Why a Turkish intensive course?
In the intensive course you immerse yourself in the language: regular lessons on several days a week lead to fast, tangible progress – ideal if you want to build up your Turkish quickly for work, university or time abroad. In small groups of 4 to 12 participants you get plenty of speaking time, practise realistic everyday situations and are guided step by step to the next level by native-speaking teachers.
Turkish Intensive Course for Beginners and Advanced Learners
Turkish opens the door to one of the most expressive languages bridging Europe and Asia. As an agglutinative language, Turkish stacks meaning in long chains of suffixes, follows vowel harmony, and has no grammatical gender at all. From its unfamiliar SOV word order to the sounds ı, ö, ü, ş, ç and ğ, our Turkish courses guide you step by step from A1 to C2.
Turkish Intensive Course
A1A1 – Beginner
Absolute beginners with no prior knowledge looking for a solid and motivating introduction to Turkish.
In the A1 course you get to know the Turkish alphabet with its special letters ı, ö, ü, ş, ç and ğ, and you train clear, syllable-precise pronunciation. You understand the basic principle of vowel harmony and of agglutination, where endings are attached to word stems like building blocks. Because Turkish has no grammatical gender, there are no articles to memorise – instead we practise the SOV word order with the verb at the end, which is unusual for English speakers. This lets you handle first everyday situations such as greetings, introductions and simple questions.
What you will learn:
- Confidently master the Turkish alphabet and the pronunciation of the special sounds ı, ö, ü, ş, ç, ğ
- Recognise and apply minor and major vowel harmony in simple words
- Introduce yourself using personal endings -im/-sin and ask questions with the particle mi
- Correctly attach first suffixes such as the locative -de/-da ("in Berlin" = Berlin'de)
- Build simple SOV sentences with the verb at the end in the present tense (-iyor)

A2A2 – Elementary
Learners with A1 foundations who want to expand their vocabulary and communicate more fluently in everyday life.
At the A2 level you systematically build up the Turkish case system and learn how the accusative (-i), dative (-e), locative (-de) and ablative (-den) express relationships in a sentence through attached suffixes. You master the possessive suffixes (evim = my house) and the definite past tense in -di, which lets you talk about things you have experienced. We now also consolidate vowel harmony across multi-part suffix chains, so that endings reliably fit the word stem. This equips you for shopping, giving directions and conversations about daily life and the past.
What you will learn:
- Correctly form the four core cases – accusative, dative, locative and ablative – through suffixes
- Attach possessive suffixes (-im, -in, -i) to nouns to express ownership
- Report on past events using the definite past tense -di
- Apply vowel harmony consistently even across two-part suffix chains
- Confidently hold everyday conversations about shopping, directions and daily routines

B1B1 – Intermediate
Learners with a solid foundation who want to speak coherently and understand more complex structures.
In the B1 course you get to know the second past tense in -miş, so characteristic of Turkish, which you use to express things heard, assumed or not personally witnessed – a concept English lacks. You form your first subordinate clauses not with conjunctions but through participles and verbal nouns that attach to the verb as suffixes. The aorist (-er/-ir) for habits and the future tense (-ecek) considerably expand your tense system. This lets you express opinions, plans and narratives with growing nuance and coherence.
What you will learn:
- Distinguish and use the past tense -miş for reported and inferred events versus -di
- Form subordinate clauses through participles (-en, -diği) instead of conjunctions
- Use the aorist -er/-ir for habits and general truths
- Employ the future tense -ecek to express plans and intentions
- Decode and build longer suffix chains (e.g. ev-ler-imiz-de = in our houses)

B2B2 – Upper Intermediate
Advanced learners who want to understand demanding texts and express themselves in a differentiated way.
At the B2 level you master the productive derivations of Turkish: the passive (-il/-in), the reflexive and above all the causative (-dir), which turns "to do" into "to have done". You use verbal nouns and converbs (-erek, -ince, -dikten sonra) to express complex temporal and logical relationships within a single word structure. We work on transforming whole sentences into nominal phrases, which is typical of written Turkish. This enables you to understand newspaper articles, take part in discussions and argue in a structured way.
What you will learn:
- Correctly form and distinguish passive, reflexive and causative suffixes (-il, -in, -dir)
- Use converbs such as -erek, -ince and -dikten sonra to link clauses
- Integrate verbal nouns (-mek, -me, -iş) as subject or object in sentences
- Transform whole statements into nominal constructions (-diği)
- Understand demanding texts such as newspaper articles and summarise them argumentatively

C1C1 – Advanced
Very advanced learners who want to use Turkish confidently in work, study and complex contexts.
In the C1 course you refine your handling of evidentiality: through the choice between -di and -miş you deliberately mark a statement as witnessed, reported or distanced. You master the formal written language with its densely nested nominalisations and long suffix chains, and you understand idioms and figurative expressions in context. You deploy the subtleties of word order, with which Turkish steers emphasis and focus through the position before the verb. This lets you move confidently through academic, professional and media contexts.
What you will learn:
- Steer evidentiality stylistically through the deliberate choice of -di and -miş
- Understand and build complex nominalisations and nested suffix chains of the written language
- Use idioms and figurative expressions (deyim) appropriately in context
- Direct focus and emphasis deliberately through word order before the verb
