Questions about the German Evening Course
The German Evening Course at Sprachinstitut Berlin is a structured language course designed specifically for working professionals and anyone who does not have time for a language course during the day. The course takes place twice a week in the evening and covers all levels from A1 to C1 – whether you are a beginner with no prior knowledge or want to further develop your advanced German skills. In small groups of 4 to 12 participants, you learn intensively and interactively so you can make fast progress. If you are unsure which level is right for you, you can take our placement test in advance.
The German Evening Course takes place twice a week in the evening, from 18:15 to 21:15 each time. You can choose between two schedule options: Tuesday and Thursday or Monday and Wednesday. This makes it easy to combine the course with a full-time job or studies. One course unit lasts 8 weeks and includes a total of 64 teaching units (UE). You can find the current start dates further up on this course page or on the Course Dates page.
A complete evening course cycle runs over 8 weeks with a total of 64 teaching units. On each course day, you receive 3 hours of teaching (18:15–21:15), which totals 6 hours per week with two sessions. This intensive structure allows you to complete an entire language level quickly despite the evening format. After completion, you can move seamlessly into the next course at the following level.
Group size in the German Evening Course is between 4 and a maximum of 12 participants. Small groups are one of our key advantages, because they ensure that every participant gets enough speaking time and that the teacher can respond to questions and difficulties individually. Especially in an evening course, where learning time is limited, small groups ensure every minute is used effectively. If you would like even more individual support, we also offer one-to-one lessons.
All our evening courses are taught by qualified teachers with solid experience in teaching German as a foreign language. Native speakers bring not only perfect pronunciation and natural language competence, but also cultural nuances and authentic language use that are often underrepresented in textbooks. Our teachers design lessons to be interactive and practical, so you actively speak and use German from the very beginning.
The German Evening Course costs €385 € for the full 8-week course with 64 teaching units. This corresponds to a very fair price per teaching unit, especially compared with other language schools in Berlin-Mitte. The price includes classes with qualified teachers in small groups as well as a certificate of participation after successful completion. Fair prices combined with high teaching quality are especially important to us – see for yourself and register further up the page or via Course Dates.
We offer the German Evening Course for all levels from A1 (beginners with no prior knowledge) to C1 (advanced level). To place you in the right course, we recommend our free placement test, which reliably determines your current German level. This ensures that all participants in your group are at a similar level and that you are neither underchallenged nor overwhelmed. Whether you are just starting German or already speak fluently and want to refine your skills – we have the right course for you.
The German Evening Course covers all four language skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing. Lessons are designed interactively so that you communicate actively from the start rather than just listening passively. Grammar is taught in context – meaning grammatical structures are practised in real communication situations instead of being drilled in isolation. If you would like to deepen your grammar further, we also recommend our grammar course.
Yes, after successfully completing the German Evening Course, you will receive a certificate of participation from Sprachinstitut Berlin. This certificate confirms your achieved language level and the teaching units completed. It can be used, for example, for job applications, visa applications, or as proof of your German skills for employers or educational institutions. The certificate is already included in the course price of €385 €.
New evening courses start monthly, so you do not have to wait long for the next start date. You can always find the exact start dates and available levels further up on this page or on our Course Dates page. We recommend registering early, as places are limited due to small group sizes of a maximum of 12 participants. This way, you can secure your preferred date and time slot (Tue+Thu or Mon+Wed).
The German Evening Course takes place in a hybrid format online and at our language institute in Berlin-Mitte – a central and easily accessible location in the heart of the capital. This central location makes it particularly easy to come to class straight after work without long travel times. Our modern classrooms provide a pleasant learning atmosphere where you can focus fully on your German course. For each session, you can decide whether to participate online or on site.
The main difference lies in the schedule structure: while the evening course takes place twice a week in the evening (Tue+Thu or Mon+Wed, 18:15–21:15), the intensive course runs for 4 weeks, four times per week during the day from Mon-Thu. The evening course with 64 UE over 8 weeks is ideal for working professionals who want to learn German alongside their job. Both course formats offer the same high quality with qualified teachers and small groups – the difference is mainly in learning pace and scheduling flexibility.
Yes, many of our participants combine the evening course with additional options to make faster progress. A particularly popular addition is our conversation course, where you can further train your speaking skills. One-to-one lessons are also an excellent supplement for working specifically on individual weaknesses. Feel free to speak to us – we will advise you on which combination best suits your learning goals.
If you already have some knowledge of German, we strongly recommend completing our free placement test before registering. The test ensures that you are placed at the right level and are neither underchallenged nor overwhelmed. Absolute beginners with no prior knowledge do not need a placement test – you can start directly in an A1 course. The test can be taken conveniently online and takes only a few minutes.
