Questions about the Grammar Course
The grammar course is aimed at all German learners who already have basic knowledge at A1 level or above and want to improve their grammar skills in a focused way. Whether you are preparing for an exam, want to express yourself more accurately at work, or simply want to get rid of typical grammar mistakes – this course offers the right support. Participants who have already completed an intensive course and now want to deepen their grammar also benefit particularly from this offer. If you are unsure whether your language level is sufficient, you can take our free placement test beforehand.
The grammar course systematically covers key topics of German grammar, including articles and cases, subjunctive forms, passive constructions and complex subordinate clause structures. The exact focus is also based on participants’ wishes and needs, so the course can flexibly address your individual gaps. Each topic is first explained clearly and then consolidated through targeted, practical exercises so you can apply what you have learned directly in everyday life.
The grammar course runs for four weeks and always takes place on Thursdays from 18:00 to 21:00. In total, the course includes 16 teaching units, allowing for a compact yet thorough focus on the most important grammar topics. The evening format is ideal for working professionals and students who do not have time for a course during the day and want to improve their grammar alongside work or studies.
Group size in the grammar course is between 4 and a maximum of 12 participants, which enables intensive and individual support from the teacher. In small groups, you have more opportunities to ask questions, participate actively in exercises and receive direct feedback. This deliberately limited group size ensures that the teacher can address individual grammar problems in a focused way and that no one gets left behind.
To take part in the grammar course, you need at least A1 level, as the course content builds on existing basic knowledge. You should already be able to form simple sentences and handle basic everyday situations in German. If you are unsure whether your current level is sufficient, we recommend our free placement test, which gives you a reliable assessment.
While the intensive course trains all language skills at the same time – speaking, listening, reading and writing – the grammar course focuses exclusively on grammatical structures and their correct use. It is therefore especially suitable as a supplement to other course formats when you notice grammar is your weakest area. Many participants combine the grammar course with an intensive or conversation course to improve both accuracy and fluency in parallel.
The grammar course places great emphasis on practical exercises so that you can immediately apply what you have learned in real communication situations. Instead of focusing only on rules, you work with authentic texts, dialogue exercises and everyday tasks that reflect typical usage contexts. This turns abstract grammar knowledge into an active skill that helps you both at work and in daily life in Berlin.
Yes, the grammar course can be combined very well with other course formats, as it takes place in the evening and is therefore flexible in terms of scheduling. A particularly popular combination is the grammar course together with a conversation course, allowing you to train grammar and free speaking at the same time. The course is also ideal as a supplement to one-to-one lessons if you are looking for additional practice in a group format.
You can find current start dates for the grammar course further up on this page or on our Course Dates page, which is updated regularly. As the course runs for four weeks at a time and only takes place on Thursdays, there are several start dates each year. We recommend registering early, as places can fill quickly due to small group sizes of a maximum of 12 participants.
If you have only just started learning German and are still learning A1 level, we first recommend an intensive course to build solid foundations before joining the grammar course. If your main goal is to improve spoken fluency, a conversation course may be the better starting point. The grammar course is most beneficial for learners who can already communicate but want to work on linguistic accuracy.
No, all required teaching materials are provided by the teacher and are included in the course fee. You will receive worksheets, practice tasks and summaries of the grammar topics covered, which you can also use for revision after the course ends.
