In small groups of 4 to 12 participants you get plenty of speaking time, practise realistic everyday situations and are guided step by step to the next level by native-speaking teachers.
Chinese Intensive Course for Beginners and Advanced Learners
Mandarin Chinese is the world's most spoken native language and the key to China's culture and economy. From the very first lesson, you will learn the Pinyin transcription system, the four tones and the most important characters step by step. From A1 to C2, we guide you systematically along the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) towards near-native command of Chinese.
Chinese Intensive Course
A1A1 – Beginner
Absolute beginners without any previous knowledge who want to learn Chinese from scratch – for travel, work or out of fascination with Chinese culture.
You start with the Pinyin transcription system and learn to hear and pronounce the four tones and the neutral tone with confidence. In parallel, you write your first characters and understand how they are built from strokes and radicals. Chinese sentence structure (subject–verb–object, no conjugation, no articles) allows quick early progress: you introduce yourself, count, ask questions with 吗 and form simple sentences with 是 and 有. You will master your first everyday situations such as greeting, ordering and shopping in Chinese.
What you will learn:
- Read Pinyin confidently and pronounce and distinguish the four tones and the neutral tone
- Recognise around 150 basic characters and apply the most important stroke orders and radicals
- Introduce yourself with 我叫 … and form simple sentences with 是 (to be) and 有 (to have)
- Ask and answer questions with 吗 and question words such as 什么, 哪儿 and 谁
- Use numbers up to 1,000 and the universal measure word 个 for prices, time and quantities
