Why a Arabic weekend course?

The weekend course concentrates the lessons on Saturday: you learn Arabic in compact sessions without the course clashing with work, university or family during the week. In small groups of 4 to 12 participants there is still plenty of time for active speaking – and over eight weeks you build up your level in a structured, lasting way.

Arabic Weekend Course

Arabic Weekend Course for Beginners and Advanced Learners

Arabic is the official language of more than 20 countries and opens the door to a millennia-old culture stretching from Morocco to the Gulf. From the very first lesson, you will learn the Arabic script, the root system and Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), which is understood in media, literature and formal communication across the entire Arab world. From A1 to C2, we guide you systematically along the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) towards near-native command of Arabic.

Arabic Weekend Course

A1

A1 – Beginner

Absolute beginners without any previous knowledge who want to learn Arabic from scratch – for work, travel or out of interest in the Arab world.

You start with the Arabic alphabet and learn to read the 28 letters in their different forms (isolated, initial, medial, final) and to write from right to left. You distinguish short and long vowels, sun and moon letters, and practise the Arabic guttural and emphatic sounds. Using simple nominal sentences – Arabic works without the verb “to be” – you introduce yourself and describe your surroundings. You will master your first everyday situations such as greeting, thanking and shopping in Arabic.

What you will learn:

  • Read all 28 letters in their positional forms and write from right to left
  • Correctly use short and long vowels, sun and moon letters and the article الـ
  • Introduce yourself with أنا اسمي … and form simple nominal sentences without a copula
  • Use personal pronouns and the attached possessive endings (كتابي – my book)
  • Use numbers up to 100 and basic politeness formulas for greetings and everyday life
